Welcome to Casa Azul: a little piece of rustic paradise in Central Portugal
Our comfortable home nestles close to unspoilt countryside in a small hamlet five minutes drive from the small town of Avelar and within ten minutes of the larger town of Ansiao. What was once an old traditional Portuguese village house has now been renovated and extended to include all modern facilities. Our ecological swimming pond with forest backdrop provides a tranquil and delightful place to live and stay.
We are Fiona and Steve Clarke and we are your hosts. We have lived here for several years having spent many holidays in the area prior to renovating and moving into Casa Azul.
We have travelled widely ourselves and stayed in a huge variety of places, so we know what it takes to make your stay with us just that extra bit special.
Our own accommodation is on the floor above the apartment so we are on-site and available to help you. We can recommend restaurants serving delicious local food and wine, cafés and pastelarias tempting you to try sweet Portuguese delights, places of interest, historical sites documenting Portugal’s colourful and vibrant past and some of the most beautiful and unspoilt local areas.
Due to our rural position a car is essential to visit Casa Azul and this part of Portugal, with off-road car parking available at the property. We are about one hour forty minutes drive from both Lisbon and Porto airports and if you wanted to drive from the UK, we are about 8 hours from Santander ferry port in northern Spain. For your safety and protection Casa Azul holds the Alojamento Local license (No. 56189/AL), which is a legal requirement for all rental and B&B properties in Portugal and ensures that the property is up to regulatory standards.
