BEM VINDO AO PARAÍSO!

Welcome to Casa Azul: a little piece of rustic paradise in Central Portugal

Our comfortable home nestles close to unspoilt countryside in a small hamlet five minutes drive from the small town of Avelar and within ten minutes of the larger town of Ansiao. What was once an old traditional Portuguese village house has now been renovated and extended to include all modern facilities. Our ecological swimming pond with forest backdrop provides a tranquil and delightful place to live and stay.

We are Fiona and Steve Clarke and we are your hosts. We have lived here for several years having spent many holidays in the area prior to renovating and moving into Casa Azul.

We have travelled widely ourselves and stayed in a huge variety of places, so we know what it takes to make your stay with us just that extra bit special.

Our own accommodation is on the floor above the apartment so we are on-site and available to help you. We can recommend restaurants serving delicious local food and wine, cafés and pastelarias tempting you to try sweet Portuguese delights, places of interest, historical sites documenting Portugal’s colourful and vibrant past and some of the most beautiful and unspoilt local areas.

Due to our rural position a car is essential to visit Casa Azul and this part of Portugal, with off-road car parking available at the property.  We are about one hour forty minutes drive from both Lisbon and Porto airports and if you wanted to drive from the UK, we are about 8 hours from Santander ferry port in northern Spain. If you need help with driving directions then please don’t hesitate to ask us.  Please also see our Contact page for a map.

For your safety and protection Casa Azul holds the Alojamento Local license (No. 56189/AL), which is a legal requirement for all rental and B&B properties in Portugal and ensures that the property is up to regulatory standards.

Casa Azul is a beautiful place to relax and wind down at. Amazing natural pool and garden, serene natural surroundings, lovely hosts, comfortable and fully equipped lodgings, lots to see and learn about in the area. You'll want to return.

Fiona and Steve - thank you so much for your friendly and helpful hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the house, which was extremely clean, tidy and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, the bed super comfy and the use of an Amazon fire stick made it feel more like a home away from home. We absolutely loved the eco pool, especially when swimming alongside tadpoles and admiring the frogs on the lilypads! We would also suggest to opt for the delicious pizza evening that Fiona and Steve offer, which are freshly cooked in the pizza oven. Overall, we would 100% recommend their house to stay in, if you fancy a home away from home/relaxing break accommodation. 5 stars!!! Thanks again

Fiona and her husband were outstanding hosts.

The place is lovely, with a lot of carefully chosen details. The apartment is equipped with everything you need, including a barbecue and different outside-staying-chilling alternatives. The natural pool is a pituresque highlight of this place.

If you love to be away from noisy beaches, want to relax and spend a peaceful time in the middle of nature, this is the place to be.

We loved to stay there! 🙂
